May 2016: No new releases in this month. I did do a promotion on my Boxed Set, trying to keep the income up.

Total earned, Three Rivers Ranch Romance series: $5195.

June 2016: No new releases this month, and in fact, I did nothing. No marketing. The income reflects this.

I did this, because Book 5 is getting ready to drop in July, and I’m putting everything I have into that release, which is on July 5, 2016.

Total earned, Three Rivers Ranch Romance series: $2890.

This might be depressing. I actually remember thinking, “Wow, that month sucked.”

BUT – can you see the tiered launching strategy here? I hit things hard in January, February, and April. I couldn’t keep doing it in May and June. Something had to give.

I distinctly remember putting up Book 5 to release on July 5, and I hadn’t written a word of it. I had to write the first chapter of the book to go in the final copy of Book 4, and I wrote it and released Book 4.

That means I had less than 11 weeks to get Book 5 written, edited, and packaged. And ready to launch with major marketing.

It was a harrowing time for me, and I vowed I’d never do it again. I bet you know how that turned out…ha! But I didn’t do that again for a while actually. I didn’t put up another book on preorder I hadn’t at least drafted until 2018. So I learned a lesson there too.

After all, I had a demanding day job, church calling, and little children. What if I couldn’t get my book ready in time?

So I didn’t do that again…for a while.
